The GIGABYTE B850M GAMING X WIFI6E is a microATX motherboard measuring 244 x 244 mm, designed for processors with Socket AM5 and based on the AMD B850 chipset. It supports up to 256 GB of DDR5 RAM with speeds of up to 8200 MHz through four DIMM slots. Graphics cards can be connected via one PCI Express 5.0 x16 slot and one PCI Express 4.0 x16 slot operating in x4 mode. Power is supplied through a 24-pin motherboard connector and an 8-pin CPU connector. The motherboard features two M.2 slots: one supporting PCI-E 5.0 x4 and the other PCI-E 4.0 x4, along with four SATA Revision 3.0 ports with RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configuration options. Component cooling is ensured by heatsinks on the chipset and VRM zones, and there are four fan connectors available. For video output, there is one HDMI and two DisplayPort connectors. The audio subsystem is based on a Realtek codec with support for 7.1-channel sound and three audio jacks. The GIGABYTE B850M GAMING X WIFI6E is equipped with a Realtek network controller with a bandwidth of 2.5 Gbps and one LAN port, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless modules. Connectivity interfaces include one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, four USB 2.0 ports on the back panel, and onboard connectors for two USB 3.2 Gen 1 and four USB 2.0. The motherboard features a reinforced PCI-E slot and heatsinks on the M.2 slots.
